DAY 01 – AIRPORT / COLOMBO

  • Welcome to Sri Lanka, our Airport Representative will meet, assist and transfer you to the Ramada Hotel in Colombo.
  • Refresh yourself and commence an afternoon city tour of Colombo. Which includes Colonial buildings such as The Presidential Secretariat, previously the parliament house, and The Grand oriental hotel, built in the mid 19th century as barracks for the British military, the Lighthouse clock tower, designed by the wife of British Governor Sir Henry Ward Also included is a drive through ‘Cinnamon Gardens’ Colombo’s Luxurious neighbourhood which was actually a Cinnamon plantation a century ago.
  • The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall or BMICH as it is commonly known, a gift from the Chinese government to the government of Sri Lanka’s first woman Prime Minister Mrs Sirimavo Bandaranaike
  • The Vihara Maha Devi park (formerly the Victoria Park) the biggest in Colombo
  • A visit to a Buddhist Temple, A Catholic cathedral, A Hindu Kovil & the Grand Mosque will round up the city tour of Colombo
  • Overnight at the Ramada hotel Colombo.

DAY 02 – COLOMBO – EMBILIPITIYA / UDAWALAWE

  • After Breakfast leaves for Embilipitiya via the Gem city of Ratnapura.
  • Check in to the ‘Centauria’ hotel and After lunch commences an afternoon safari drive through the Udawalawe National Park which is located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.The Park covers an area of 306 sq.km.

  • There are over 400Elephants, There are also recorded sightings of leopards: However, due to there elusive nature spotting them requires Considerable luck.
  • Other animals found here include Golden Jackals, Water Buffalo Grey Langurs and also Crocodiles and Monitor Lizards The many species of birds found here include birds of prey such as the White-bellied Sea Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Fish Eagle, Booted Eagle, Changeable Hawk Eagle, and in The wetlands wades and Painted Storks.
  • Land Birds include the Indian Peafowl, Malabar Pied Hornbill, and pied cuckoo
  • Return to the ‘Centauria’ hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 03 – EBILIPITIYA -YALA

  • Take a morning drive south to Yala.arrive at Elephant Reach Hotel for lunch
  • Later that afternoon take part in a jeep safari through the Yala National Park, one of the best Parks in the World to observe and Photograph Leopards.

  • There are about 35 Leopards in The Park. Which probably is the highest density anywhere in the world? Other animals that can be seen in the park are Elephants, Sloth bear, Sri Lankan Axis deer or spotted deer, Barking Deer, Mouse deer, Toque macaque, Mongoose and reptiles include Lizards, Crocodiles, Water Monitors, Tortoise, Turtles and many species of snake.
  • YALA is also a bird watchers paradise with around 230 residents, migrant and endemic species of birds recorded in the park.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Reach Hotel.

 

Please note the Yala National Park is closed to  visitors around September and October, During this period the Yala safari drive will be replaced with a safari drive in the Bundala National Park

DAY 04 – YALA - NUWARA ELIYA

  • After breakfast depart on one of the trip’s most scenic drives.
  • You stop in Ella, the departure point for mountain Hikes, due to its wonderful scenery.

  • Afterwards head for Nuwara Eliya.this stunning area, home to rolling hills and Spectacular tea plantations was a popular holiday spot for British colonials. After lunch enjoys an afternoon sightseeing tour around the city.
  • Overnight stay at st’ Andrew’s hotel Nuwara Eliya

DAY 05 – NUWARA ELIYA -KANDY

  • After breakfast leave for Kandy en-route visit a tea plantation & Factory.
  • Arrive at your hotel in Kandy in time for lunch.

  • An optional excursion to a local cultural show with Drummers, Dancers & Fire walkers is available for those of you who would like to experience some local entertainment.
  • Overnight at the Hotel ‘Topaz’ in Kandy

DAY 06 – KANDY / PINNAWELA

  • After breakfast depart for the Pinnawela Elephants Orphanage.
  • Most of the Elephants in the orphanage are raised to maturity after having been found abandoned or injured in the country’s jungles.

  • After lunch return to Kandy & commence a city tour visiting the colourful and busy Marketplace, the upper lake drive, Gem Museum: where you can view a documentary of how the precious stones are mined cut & polished.
  • Visit the arts and crafts centre where you can witness the amazing creativity of the craftsmen at work, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens; pleasure garden to Sinhalese Royalty before the British period.
  • All plants and trees are marked with their botanical names; the Orchid house has probably the largest variety of Orchids found in the area.
  • Keep aloof out of the Fruitbat with its large wingspan; thereafter visit the famous Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic)
  • Return to Hotel Topaz for overnight stay

DAY 07 – KANDY – BEACH RESORT

  • After breakfast leave for your chosen beach resort either on the south coast or the northwestern coast, the rest of your holiday spent at leisure on the beach or you may decide to explore the places of interest found around the resort area.
